Post 7: My Best Friend

In this post I'm going to talk to you about my best friend. This is a little bit problematic for me, because I love very much all the friends I have, and consider one above all of them is very difficult. Well, I'm going to pick one of my best friends, his name is Nicolas, I met him at the school in 7th grade, so we have been friends since 2007, for about 8 years, I consider him my best friend because he is very special for me. We always laugh at stupid things, we share the same sense of humor, share the same interests. Now it's difficult to maintain the relations close, because in the past we used to see each other every day at school, and even we spent the weekends together playing video games, seeing movies, and listening to music, and now we study in different places, we meet often, but not as often as I want, because there are always exams or group works for the college.  Still we talk like every day, we play video games together, online, and we talk by Skype, so we are in virtual contact very often and when there's a subject in which I have some trouble understanding he always helps me, like in anatomy or biology, because he is studying Nursery and he understands almost everything about those subjects. My best memory with him was a summer, we went to Pichilemu for one week, with another of my best friends, Hugo, and his parents. We spent a precious time together, we ate a lot, we laughed a lot, and we always remember that summer. The last time I saw him was this Monday, we went to a bar with my girlfriend in Plaza Ñuñoa and we drank some mojitos, and he told us about his practice in the Hospital de Carabineros.

Post 6: How Green are you?

Well, first i have to say that I'm not very "green", not because I don't want to, I think it's because I'm a little bit inattentive with the things that surround me. The environmentally friendly practices that I have are very few, like not wasting water, paper or plastic. I learned the most of that practices by my mother, who always is worried about water and electricity, but for economic reasons, not for ecological. I always try not to use paper unnecessarily, for example when  I use an ATM, I never print any receipt. I have other environmentally friendly habits, like trying to purchase glass maded bottles over other materials, like the plastic maded ones. You can reutilize them and produce much less plastic waste.
I usually use the bus, I don't have a car and I live too far away of everything like to go on bike or walking anywhere. I never have joined an eco-organization. Once I sign for Greenpeace, against Shell, who are going to search oil in the north pole, destroying several polar bear habitats. Then like every week Greenpeace sent me an E-mail asking me for economic support, but I never have donate anything. In the future I would like to buy the less plastic made goods that I can, I think that is one of the most helping actions that we can do to reduce our carbon footprint. If I live near my job in the future I plan to use a bike as trasportation too. In our city, I think that an ideal solution that would help very much to the environment and the pollution problems would be to enhance the public transportation, because in that way, there would be less cars in the streets, but only with fixing the buses I think that the pollution will be very reduced, because sometimes I see buses that throws up to the sky so much fumes, like a chimney...

Post 5: My Future Job

Well, i would like to have a job in the PDI or in the SML as an forensic anthropologist, I imagine it very challenging, because the kind of things that you could see and it could be both indoors in a laboratory and outdoors in a fieldwork. I also would like to have a job as an investigator related with physical anthropology, and the main themes of the discipline as evolution or migration of ancient human groups. That's only a hope, because usually in the mention the older classmates says that there are not too much work offers, they say that is very difficult to get any job, and when you get the title you only can work in archaeological excavations if you are lucky, but i don't listen much to them.
I think if i get any job i would have to travel a lot, even if i'm shut in a laboratory, because always is necessary to travel to get some information. If my future job involves being locked up in a office i would be grateful, i would feel very comfortable, because as i said before, even if i'm locked up in an office or a laboratory i would be doing something related with physical anthropology.
I heard once of a major in facial reconstruction in Universidad de Concepción, that sounds very interesting for me, because combines two of my favorite areas, art and physical anthropology, and is an area of the discipline that is very new, with several new things to discover. I never have looked for information about this, but when the times comes i'm sure that i will wear out all the possibilities to get there. Finally i have to say that in any job that i would get related with physical anthropology i will do it gratefully.

Post 4: Election Day

Well, i guess we should start with the fact that i'm an student of social sciences, that's because one of the most important things to me is the common well-being. I think totally that the first step for the common well-being is to be kind with each other. We first should start to think in how could we help other people, or how we can make everyone's day a bit more pleasant. In my opinion, after having the idea of helping each other in mind, we can start to speak about politics. In the next presidential elections i think that i'm going to vote depending totally on what kind of people will be the candidates. That's a very important matter to me, and actually in the national contingency i guess, because all of the investigations and process that surrounds the politics and economics. I prefer not to vote than voting for the an option that not fulfill all my expectations. According to electoral campaigns, i think they are very invasive and messy, maybe whit the actual technology we could try not to get our towns so dirty, like having just electronic campaigns., but they are still invasive, because they are a form of publicity, and in my opinion publicity is always invasive.
I think the qualities of a person that would have a public position should include characteristics like being respectful to other people, being intelligent and eloquent.
I never have consider become a politician, simply because i don't like the politics careers, i like much more science than politics.
Making a constructive criticism to the electoral campaigns in my district is very difficult, because the politicians don't matter much about where (or even when) they put their posters. Still now, i could see publicity for Ricardo Lagos, who got elected a long time ago. That only means that the campaigns are not being executed in an efficient form, and how i mention after, we should take advantage of the technology for make this campaigns more clean and better.

Post 3: A day to remember

The first though that comes to my mind when you ask me for a remarkable day is one day in October 2014. I was in fieldwork, making ethnography for a subject in the college with my group of classmates, in total we were five. We went to 'Caleta Los Pellines' for one week, it was such an experience, we learn how the people works on the boats, how they fish and how they live in this particular form of subsistence, which means go into the ocean with nothing more that a few fishing nets and get fishes for selling.
The first day we were looking around the coast, recognizing the territory, and in the night we were very tired, but anyone wanted to sleep, because we wanted to watch the fishermen entering the sea with the boats, and for that we need to get up like at 4 AM, so we plan to stay awake all night long. No one could take the fatigue that means not sleeping in all night, so we go to the bed like at 2 AM, hoping that everyone would get up at 4 AM. Unfortunately we sleep too much, and we got up like at 5 AM, and we hurry to dress up and prepare everything to depart. For our fortune the fishermen were delayed too, and they were still trying to enter the sea. We recorded all the event, it was beautiful to see, all the men helping each other to push the boats into the water, a tractor pushing them against the waves and some dogs playing around. When a boat enter the sea i looked it until it disappears in the horizon. The pack of dogs in the beach that were playing to bite the tractor wheels was something very funny, it doesn't seems to matter them how cold the water was, they were very happy running from here to there, biting and barking . After all the boats entered into the sea we bought some knead bread and tea to share in the shore.
